  • Variants: USB for AMD64 only
  • Download
  • Instructions for creating and using the live media
  • Git tag: spaceflight-1.0beta5
  • Git stable branch: stable-spaceflight-1.0beta5 alias spacecloud
  • Remaining Limitations:
    • Sometimes, the Oracle DBXML library crashes Tomcat. This effect was only seen on AMD64.
      • Workaround: /etc/init.d/tomcat6 restart; /etc/init.d/contractwizard-negoratings start
    • MaaS Flotr graphs and CW negotiation sliders don't display correctly in Konqueror.
      • Workaround: Use Firefox
    • (new) Sometimes, Eucalyptus totally crashes and the web interface doesn't come up anymore.
      • Workaround: Always start the interface after initialising the cloud.

SPACEflight 1.0 beta4 "Chernobyl"

This release was introduced (before finalisation) at the Annual Assembly of the German Association of Informatics.

  • Variants: USB for AMD64 only
  • Download
  • Instructions for creating and using the live media
  • Git tag: spaceflight-1.0beta4
  • Git stable branch: stable-spaceflight-1.0beta4
  • Remaining Limitations:
    • Sometimes, the Oracle DBXML library crashes Tomcat. This effect was only seen on AMD64.
      • Workaround: /etc/init.d/tomcat6 restart; /etc/init.d/contractwizard-negoratings start
    • MaaS Flotr graphs and CW negotiation sliders don't display correctly in Konqueror.
      • Workaround: Use Firefox
    • The CPU is not throttled. The effect was seen at least on Intel Core 2 Duo.
      • There is no workaround yet. Don't use the demo for too long ;) At least the power management is part of the packaging now.

SPACEflight 1.0 beta3 "Unity"

This release was introduced at the opening ceremony of the THESEUS Innovation Centre in Berlin.

  • Main features: First integrated SPACE demonstrator
  • Components: Debian squeeze (snapshot 20.05.2010), SPACE
  • Released: 26.05.2010
  • Variants: USB/DVD/VirtualBox for AMD64/i686
  • Download
  • Instructions for creating and using the live media
  • Git tag: spaceflight-1.0beta3
  • Git stable branch: stable-spaceflight-1.0beta3
  • Remaining Limitations:
    • Sometimes, the Oracle DBXML library crashes Tomcat. This effect was only seen on AMD64.
      • Workaround: /etc/init.d/tomcat6 restart; /etc/init.d/contractwizard-negoratings start
      • Hm, it always seems to happen on i686 sometimes, but usually only in massive parallel negotiations. To be investigated.
      • Investigation hint: This is most likely due to corrupted packages at the time of image creation on the build host (samba's old hard disk).
    • MaaS Flotr graphs don't display correctly in Konqueror.
      • Workaround: Use Firefox
    • The CPU is not throttled. The effect was seen at least on Intel Core 2 Duo.
      • There is no workaround yet. Don't use the demo for too long ;)
  • Fixed Limitations:
    • DVD starts too slow, thus KDM might not be fast enough to keep X server alive.
      • Workaround: /etc/init.d/kdm restart or use the latest Git where the bug is already fixed (see also [1]).
    • When using DVD for AMD64, some Contract Wizard directories are not writeable.
      • Workaround: Use the i686 version or rebuild the image with the latest Git sources where the bug is already fixed.
