ТЕСЛА was the previous name of SPACE, a free, user-centric, modular, powerful integrated set of platform services for service provisioning, sharing, management and delivery. This page remains for historic reasons.

About the naming

Finding a good name for the project has not been trivial. There are about half a dozen reasons for the name ТЕСЛА in its cyrillic spelling.

  • Like Tesla coils, the platform draws its power from loosely coupled core elements. In this case, the platform services used in ТЕСЛА are fully independent from each other and can be (and are) used in other contexts as well.
  • ТЕСЛА has been the original spelling of Nikola Tesla's name.
  • The cyrillic spelling often crosses the limits of string processing of today's applications. Several issues have already been found in existing server and client software alike.
  • The probability of confusion with trademarks is decreased.
  • The name contains central sillables of its heritage as TEXO's SLA-bound service delivery infrastructure.
  • Finally, it's really just cool.
