Most distributable service technologies define a simple file archive for the implementation and description artefacts. However, virtual machine images are likewise great service packages especially for complex services which need their own database, operating system settings, custom tools and languages and so on. Therefore, the Cloud Computing extension extends the Unified Hosting part of SPACE with virtual machine detection, information extraction and deployment. Furthermore, it extends the Contract Wizard application with a configurator which is driven by SLA/configuration settings. It right-sizes the virtual machine instance and configures aspects of the machine inside on startup. The extension ships with an additional scenario service: a social network application.
